Background information

The article window is used to create both finished products, semi-products, materials and other types of articles. The Type field determines what the article will be. In order to define an article, you must first enter obligatory dictionaries.

Articles group

Before you start defining articles, you must create articles groups. To do so, select the option Articles - Dictionaries - Articles groups.

  • It is particularly important for fabrics, leather and selected materials to be assigned to the correct article group. This is due to the subsequent use of articles as possible variants realizations. More information on this subject can be found in the documentation on variants.
  • It is also important from the point of view of dealing with claims procedure. Only articles from groups, which were indicated as complaints (in the definition of these groups) will be seen during the selection of complaint articles).

Groups of articles are described in detail a in separate documentation.

Variants and Variants groups

In case the company produces variant finished products, all variants should be entered into the system and synchronized with the realizations. Variants are added in the option Articles - Dictionaries - Variants - Variants.

The different variants are grouped (in the option Articles - Dictionaries - Variability - Variants groups) and only then they are assigned to the articles. Articles with a group of options become variant finished products.

Article definition

  1. Start Saturn GG.
  2. Select Articles - New article.

Fill in the following fields in a new article window. The article can only be saved if all obligatory fields are filled in. They are marked in grey in the following tables. Bellow table regards an article header.


Is it obligatory?

Field description



Enter article code and description. They can be translated into a foreign language and customer description.





The following article types are available:

- Finished product

- Semi-finished product - an element of the finished product.

- Material - material for production

- Fabric - this is how we mark only fabrics.

- Leather

- Goods - They are not produced in our company/factory, e.g. household appliances added to a kitchen.

- Assembly

- Element X - for defining material norms for virtual articles.

- Service - to define services that will be used to add service costs to invoices;

- Pattern/model - a master article, one-off. They are usually created for material norm import. During import, if a pattern is attached to the imported articles, they incherit its structure.

- Spare part - articles of this type are used in the complaint process;

- Virtual - an article created for the needs of material norm, especially their imports.

- Transport - it is used to add transport costs to invoices;

- Non-invoiced - this is an article whose value will not appear on the invoice, e.g. samplers; reference furniture; although they are on the invoice, they are not invoiced. Other use - the article appears on the outcome document, but at the moment of semi-automatic invoicing based on an outcome document, its valus in not added to the sales invoice.

It is impossible to place orders for inactive articles. It can be an alternative for removing articles form database. They are excluded from ordering but they are kept in database.

3. Select F6 to save an article header. 

Then proceed to completing the bookmarks. The bookmarks are completed according to the user's needs and the type of article. There is no obligation to fill in all data. Bookmarks are completed and edited using function keys. Remember to save the data.

Is it obligatory?


VAT description


In this field you can select the VAT rate that will apply to the article. This rate is downloaded, among other things, when customer orders are entered into the system.

Variant group


Downloaded from a variant groups dictionary. This is a key field for finished products. Finished products with the assigned group of variants become variant finished products which means they have specific variants, e.g. feet, upholstery fabrics, foams, etc. These variants will have to be specified later in the orders, they will influence fabric norms and pricelists.

If dou do not define variant finished product, then you dhould select NONE option in this field.

Price group


Downloaded from the price group dictionary. The article is assigned to this group. This is important in the case of fabrics and leather, because when building a customer's price list, the price is usually determined for  price groups of variants realizations, and not for individual fabrics/skins.

Articles group


Downloaded from the dictionary of article groups. The article shall be assigned to that group. This is particularly important in the case of defining fabrics, leather and some materials, because later, at the stage of defining variants, they are synchronized with article groups. This means that a group of articles can be used to fulfil a variant.

Technological group


Downloaded from the dictionary of technological groups. The article is assigned to this group.  Technologically similar articles are merged into technological groups. The information about technological group applies when defining fabric norms. The amount of material consumption is determined for the whole technological group.

Discount group


The article is assigned to a discount group. 



It is used at the moment of linking the system with the financial and accountancy system. Any sales movments on the article are booked on the account. 

Product code


Downloaded from the dictionary of products. It is used only by few customers.

Usually, it is used in two ways. First one applies to set furniture and is used is to provide information about funiture place in a set e.g. left corner, double seat. Secound one concerns article ingredients, e.g. chemical composition; for delivery, export, etc. User decides how to use this dictionary.

However, it should not be used for information about certified materials. There is a separate dictionary only for this issue.



Number according to Polish Classification of Products and Services (Polskiej Klasyfikacji Wyrobów i Usług) which is a registry of products accepted in polish commerce.



At this point we indicate the article that is the packaging for the created one.

FSC points


Number of FSC certificate points. Here we specify FSC points only for finished products. The number of points for materials is specified in the supplier's offers.


(and their converters)


It is a basic warehouse unit (used inside the company) and two additional units with converters. In the case of materials, the supplier may have other units for a given article, in which case they are specified in the supplier's offer.

In case of FSC certified materials, one of units should be as defined in the certificate.

Default outcome unit


Thue unit thani is used on outcome documentas when an article is issued form a warehouse.



The number of parcels in which the furniture is sent. It is essential when you want to print labels.

Pieces per package


Number of pieces per package



Production units S (leather), T (fabric), M (Mix). They are used in production planning. The system calculates the number of STMs on the base of realizations.
1 production unit = 1 man per 8h.



The type of barcode. You type the barcode.

Deciding whether an article is taken into account for allocation. Allocation is one of the ways to determine the demand for a material (apart from deterministic and statistical methods).

Supply order generating methode

Determine how to generate orders to suppliers.

• Statistical - with the statistical method, the system generates a message about approaching minimal article stock. This option applies to articles like glue, staples, etc., i.e. those for which ordering by deterministic method would be difficult.

• Deterministic (based on actual consumption)

The system controls stock in warehouses. On this basis, it calculates the demand.

Optimal order quantity

Applies to an article, regardless of the supplier.

It is entered, for example, to specify the number of items in a package, when the whole package has to be ordered. It is also used by PeaceMaker procedures.


There are 100 items in the package and this value is entered in the field Optimal order quantity. If there is a demand for 75 items, an order will still contain 100 items.

Stock volume activating supply

Minimum stock, after which, in the case of the statistical method of generating orders, an e-mail with information about the demand is sent to a user.

Alarming stock quantity

Minimum stock, after which an alarming message is generated.

Maximal stock quantity 

Maximum stock informs about the maximum level of stock we want to have in the warehouse.

Risk level

risk level is set for final products. It is an inforrmation about essential normatives. the subject of control are material and fabric norms.

Risk level statuses:

  • all norms control
  • fabric norm control
  • material nirm control


It is selected from sepatae dictionary.


Length/Width/Height. Article size definition.

L/W/H (gross)

Article size after packing.

Variables in order

By selecting the checkboxes you can determine the dimensions of the article, which can be changed in the customer's order.

Work plan

It is selected for final products, semi-finished products, covers, frames. 

It is selected from the dictionary of work plans. A work plan is a list of departments through which an article gas to go in the production process. This is done for production planning purposes.

Edge symbol

Information used for box furniture. The edge banding symbol is used in material norms.


It shall be specified for the elements. It is a list of activities carried out on a given element in the production process on particular workstations.

Quantity per pallet

Some articles are produced on pallets, in which case the number of items on a pallet should be specified. The label is not printed for a single item, but for the entire pallet.


It is a separate dictionary. After selecting it, the defined article is assigned to it. Famill selection is essential if yu want to create furniture commercial sets. A set cen be built exclusively from furniture items from the same family.


Determine the position of the article in the set. It may be initial, middle, final or n/a. N/a - belonging to the same family, but not included in the set.

Pallet card

The way of generating information on a pallet card.

Element symbol

It is shown on the printout.


We indicate another article, which is the raw material for a given article, e.g. for the top panel element we indicate the material from which it was made, i.e. raw chipboard.

Seats number

Actual number of furniture seats.

Attachments bookmark

The bookmark allows you to add attachments to articles. You can add different types of files. The path to the file is stored in the database, not the attachment itself. This is to avoid overloading the database.

Firstly, you need to prepare space on your cpmputer / server. Please be aware that stored filles can be big. Secondly, you configure settngs. As a result, a folder with the article ID can be created in the selected location, where all files attached to the article definition are stored.

The files can be opened/played both in the folder and from Saturn GG, in the article definition, in the attachments bookmark.


Before you can attach files, you should do as follows:

  1. Separate disk space where files will be stored. You have to plan more space at this stage, because the system remembers only one path.
  2. In Settings - Administrative settings write the path where files will be stored.

If the path is changed in the course of work, then in definitions of articles using the old path, the attachments will "disappear". Of course, these attachments will still be stored on the disk (in the previous location), but there will be no information about the path in the system and as a result, they will not be seen in the articles definitions.

Adding attachments

To add an attachment, go to the Attachments tab and then:

  1. In the bookmark area, left-click to open the Add option.
  2. Select the file to be attached.
  3. The attachments are placed in the folder indicated in the settings. The name of the folder is created in such a way that the article ID number is added to the last component entered in the path.

Deleting attachments

Click on the attachment and then press delete or backspace. In this case the standard keyboard shortcuts used in Saturn GG do not work.

Warehouse bookmark

This is where you specify the warehouse to which the article goes, e.g. usually finished products have their own warehouse. A special case is the materials at our disposal (i.e. the materials entrusted to us by the customer and not purchased; they are used to fulfil the customer's orders). They should be placed in a separate warehouse, which will also be assigned to the customer. To open the window below, press F3.

Language descriptions bookmark 

This option allows you to add article descriptions in a language other than the basic language. Typically, translations of the article name are added in this way. Language descriptions will appear on orders and documents of customers who have a particular language suscribed in their descriptions. In order to open the window below, press F3 button.

Language descriptions of articles are also seen during the registration of customer orders, in the search mode - Language descriptions.

Here you select language.

Here you insert translation of an article name 1.

Customer descriptions bookmark

This is an option that allows you to add item descriptions for specific customers. This option is used e.g. when there is a different name on the customer's side than the one used in our company / warehouse. Moreover, the customer's name should appear on the customer's documents.
Customer descriptions is superior to the language description, i.e. the article has both a language description and the customer's description, but the customer's description will appear on the invoice. To open the following window, press the F3 button.

Here you can also enter a barcode, labels, price group, etc. This data will apply only to the customer indicated in the bookmark.



Customer code

We indicate the customer to whom the name and other data will apply. They will not be applied to other customers.

Code and description of the article, which will be valid only for the indicated customer.

Unique barecode for the customer.

Dispatch label

Unique label for the customer.

Price group

The article may have a different price for a customer. In this case, the Article price group is used.

This works as follows. By default, the item belongs to the price group specified in the Main bookmark. All customers are bound by the price specified in this group.

If we want to create an exception to this rule, we create a new group with a new price. We add this price group in a Customer description bookmark.

 Language descriptions of articles are seen during the customer orders registration , in the search mode - language descriptions.

Duty rate specification. It is selected from a separate dictionary.

Certificates bookmark 

The bookmark applies to certified materials. 

Certificates of articles are a separate dictionary from where we select appropriate ones. When certificates are selected, their expiry dates are automatically filled in based on its definition.

In the case of FSC certificates for finished products, in addition to indicating the appropriate certificate, point values must be completed. FSC points should be entered in the Basic bookmark, in the field Number of FSC points. These values and information about certificates are used in the process of creating stock out documents for finished products.

In case of materials, the number of FSC points is included in the supplier's offer.

Copying articles

It is possible to copy an article and on the gase of it create a new one. The procedure is as follows.

  1. Start SaturnGG.
  2. Select Articles - Preview.
  3. Search for an article. (You can search for articles in any way you like, e.g. by searching for articles with a given code, or from a given group of articles).
  4. Selecte an article and press F5.
  5. A copy of the article is created. It will open in an edition mode. You must make changes, in particular in the article code and name fields.
  6. Save the new article - F6.

Article edition

  1. Start SaturnGG.
  2. Select Articles - Preview.
  3. Search for an article and select it.
  4. Press F4 to start editing mode.
  5. Go to the desired fields and correct them.
  6. Press F6 to save the changes.

Deleting articles

  1. Start SaturnGG.
  2. Select Articles - Preview.
  3. Search for an article and select it.
  4. Press F8 to delete it.
  5. Confirm operation.
